NoTimeToWait. 1ST NATIONAL YOUTH AIDS CONFERENCE | NOVEMBER 21-22, 2020

LetsStopAIDS is Canada’s Youth-HIV charity focusing on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Founded in 2004 by the then 15-year-old Shamin Mohamed Jr., LetsStopAIDS inspires youth in Canada and globally to play a meaningful role in ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. Today, LetsStopAIDS strives to achieve zero new Youth-HIV infections.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? The HIV epidemic is far from over. Since 2014, Canada’s Youth-HIV rates have risen 31%, where just under one-quarter (616) of all HIV diagnoses in 2018 being youth aged 15 to 29. Little to no information on community support and continued stigma prevent young people from accessing critical care. The sexual health of young people has mostly been overlooked. COVID-19 has only emphasized these health inequities, with already low rates of youth engagement dropping further. We have NoTimeToWait.
